What are the conditions and methods for long-term storage of serum?
Publication date:2026-10-29
Page views:
If serum needs to be stored long-term, it must be kept in a freezer at −10°C or lower; storing it at −20°C is recommended. Studies have shown that serum stored at −80°C exhibits only minor changes in performance; however, the large temperature difference during thawing can lead to increased precipitation, resulting in a cluttered background. Therefore, long-term storage at −80°C is not advised. If the serum will be used frequently in the near future, we recommend not keeping it at 4°C for more than one month. If you cannot use an entire vial at once, aliquot it before storage and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
