At what temperature should 1640 medium be stored?
Publication date:2026-10-29
Page views:
In the laboratory, culture media should be stored in a refrigerator at 4°C. It is generally not recommended to store standard media at −20°C, as the salts in the medium tend to precipitate at such temperatures. Upon thawing, some of these salts may fail to redissolve, leading to a reduction in the medium’s osmotic pressure and increasing the risk of cell lysis and death during cell culture. Additionally, during storage, avoid exposing the medium to high‑temperature conditions. Before use, allow the medium to return to room temperature.
