Product Description
RPMI-1640 medium is named after the research institution where it was developed—the Roswell Park Memorial Institute—and is an improved version of McCoy’s 5A medium. It was initially used for the suspension or monolayer culture of human leukemia cells. Subsequently, it was found to be suitable for culturing HeLa, Jurkat, MCF‑7, PC12, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (including B and T lymphocytes), astrocytes, and various cancer cell lines.
This product differs from other culture media in that it contains reduced glutathione and a high concentration of vitamins. It also includes biotin, vitamin B12, and p‑aminobenzoic acid—components absent in EMEM and DMEM—as well as elevated levels of inositol and choline chloride.
This product is formulated using ultrapure water.
