    HEK293 [HEK-293T] (Chinese name: human embryonic kidney cells) is an immortalized cell line derived from human embryonic kidney cells transfected with a truncated human adenovirus type 5 (Ad5). These cells contain and express the Ad5 genes introduced during transfection. HEK293 cells serve as a host for the amplification of human adenoviral vectors and express an aberrant cell-surface receptor for fibronectin, composed of the integrin β1 subunit and the αv subunit of the fibronectin receptor.

    The normal cell morphology is epithelioid, and the cells exhibit adherent growth. Species: Human.
