Product Description
The Lipid Peroxidation Sensor is a novel, highly selective and sensitive probe for lipid‑derived ROS. Unlike other ROS‑capturing probes, C11‑BODIPY 581/591 exhibits excellent lipophilicity, enabling rapid membrane permeation. It can then selectively detect lipid peroxidation‑derived ROS both within cells and in the plasma membrane, while retaining its lipophilic character after oxidation and remaining embedded in the lipid bilayer. This process is accompanied by a measurable change in fluorescence intensity. The sensor is widely used for visualizing and monitoring lipid‑derived ROS via fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, and other techniques.
In the structure of the lipid peroxidation sensor, the polyunsaturated butadienyl group undergoes catalytic oxidation by lipid ROS, causing its fluorescence emission peak to shift from 590 nm to 510 nm.
