Product Description
Phalloidin is a cyclic peptide isolated from the fungus Amanita dhalloides. It binds competitively to F‑actin. Fluorescently labeled phalloidin can selectively bind to F‑actin at the nanogram level and is readily soluble in water, providing a highly convenient labeling method for visualizing and quantifying actin localization in tissue sections, cultured cells, and cell-free systems.
This product is Alexa Fluor 555‑labeled phalloidin, which emits bright, stable orange fluorescence. It exhibits highly specific staining with excellent contrast, making it well suited for both qualitative and quantitative analysis of F‑actin. Compared with actin antibodies, Alexa Fluor 555‑phalloidin offers the following advantages: (1) It binds to F‑actin subunits in a 1:1 stoichiometry and does not interact with G‑actin, resulting in superior staining performance. (2) Its binding is independent of species, ensuring broad applicability. (3) Non‑specific background signals from phalloidin labeling are negligible, yielding high image contrast. (4) The staining protocol is fully compatible with other fluorescent dyes used in cellular assays, including fluorescent proteins, Qdot® nanocrystals, and other Alexa Fluor conjugates (including Alexa Fluor‑labeled secondary antibodies). (5) After labeling with this reagent, F‑actin retains many of the intrinsic biological properties characteristic of native actin.
