Product Description
NIH/3T3 (Chinese name: mouse embryonic fibroblasts) is a highly contact‑inhibited, continuously passaged cell line derived from NIH Swiss mouse embryo cultures. To generate sublines with morphological characteristics more suitable for transformation assays, the original NIH/3T3 strain was subjected to more than five rounds of subcloning. NIH/3T3 cells are highly sensitive to sarcoma virus–induced focus formation and to leukemia virus replication, making them particularly valuable for studies of DNA‑mediated transformation and transfection; moreover, they are negative for mousepox virus. The typical cell morphology is fibroblastoid, with adherent growth. Species: mouse; tissue origin: embryo; cell type: spontaneously immortalized cell line.
