Product Description
Vero (Chinese name: African green monkey kidney cells) was established by Y. Yasumura and Y. Kawakita at Chiba University in Japan, using kidney tissue from normal adult African green monkeys. On June 15, 1964, when B. Shimizu transferred the Vero cell line from Chiba University to the Tropical Virus Laboratory of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), it had already been passaged to the 93rd generation.
The cells exhibit a typical epithelial morphology and grow adherently. Species: African green monkey; tissue origin: normal kidney; cell type: spontaneously immortalized.
