Product Description
H9c2(2-1) (Chinese name: rat cardiomyocytes) is a cell line derived as a subclone from a clonal cell line established by Kimes and Brandt from embryonic rat heart tissue of the BD1X strain. H9c2(2-1) cells exhibit numerous characteristics of skeletal muscle. Myoblasts within H9c2(2-1) cells are capable of fusing to form multinucleated myotubes and respond to acetylcholine stimulation. When the serum concentration in the culture medium is reduced to 1%, H9c2(2-1) cells undergo rapid fusion.
The cells exhibit a typical myoblast-like morphology and grow adherently. Species: rat; tissue origin: myocardium; tumor type: spontaneously immortalized cells.
