Product Description
Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA), also known as Bovine albumin or Cohn Fraction V, is commonly abbreviated as BSA. In addition to its extremely broad applications in laboratory research, BSA is frequently used as a blocking agent in immunoassays, including ELISA and Western blotting. As a carrier protein, conjugating BSA to haptens and other weak antigens enhances their immunogenicity during antibody production. In restriction enzyme digestion reactions, BSA often serves as a stabilizing agent for certain enzymes and helps prevent them from adhering to tube walls and pipette tips. BSA is also widely employed in biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes and as a nutrient in cell and microbial cultures. Furthermore, it is utilized as a standard for protein quantification assays. Our BSA products are prepared from high‑quality bovine plasma using an improved heat‑shock method to inactivate proteases, followed by non‑solvent treatment to remove lipids and other plasma proteins.
This product is a fatty acid–free bovine serum albumin (Fatty Acid Free BSA) with an extremely low fatty acid content of 0.02%, which is virtually negligible, and it dissolves readily. It is commonly used as a carrier protein for trace elements, fatty acids, hormones, and growth factors in serum‑free culture systems. This formulation permits the incorporation of specific fatty acids to promote cell growth. It is particularly suitable for hormone or cholesterol assays where lipid or fatty acid interference must be avoided. The total fatty acid content in each batch is ≤0.02%. [Note 】 ： This product has a lower fatty acid content than Sigma’s comparable product A8806 and an albumin content that is three percentage points higher, reaching 99%, yet its price is only 20% of the latter. To date, more than 200 laboratories have adopted our fat-free bovine serum albumin.

Standard-level BSA
Heat‑treated, standard BSA products can serve as culture media and components for cultivating tissue cells (including microbial, animal, and insect cells) as well as a reference standard for protein molecular weight determination. These are cost‑effective BSA products, such as the AP36L014 series offered by Li Ji Bio.
Fatty acid-free BSA
Fat‑free BSA can serve as a carrier protein for analyses related to lipid metabolism and can also bind specific fatty acids to form albumin complexes, thereby enhancing the performance of cell culture systems. When the presence of lipids or fatty acids in an assay interferes with measurements of hormones or cholesterol, this product is the preferred choice—such as the AP36L034 series from Li Ji Bio.
Diagnostic-grade BSA
Diagnostic‑grade bovine serum albumin powder is specifically designed to minimize background interference and inhibitory effects in cell culture systems. It is free of proteases, bioburden, and IgG, and exhibits very low endotoxin activity (less than 3.0 EU/mg). It can be used as a protein standard, diluent, conjugate, or enzyme stabilizer, and also serves as an immunoreagent in highly sensitive immunoassays, cell culture, and hybridization experiments. Examples include the AP36L024 product series from Li Ji Bio.
