Product Description
Ponceau S is a commonly used protein stain. It can be employed for detecting proteins on PVDF membranes, nitrocellulose membranes, and cellulose acetate membranes. Ponceau S carries a negative charge, enabling it to bind to positively charged amino acid residues as well as to the nonpolar regions of proteins, thereby producing distinct red bands on blotting membranes. Moreover, this binding is reversible; after staining, the membrane can be washed and destained with distilled water, PBS buffer, or other suitable solutions without affecting subsequent experiments. This product is suitable for assessing protein transfer efficiency in Western blotting by visualizing proteins on PVDF or NC membranes, with a detection limit of 250 ng.
