Cyanine3 Hydrazide, an activated derivative with numerous aldehyde‑reactive groups, is widely used in studies of neuronal electrode loss and gap junctions; it is analogous to Cy3 Hydrazide. This dye is commonly employed for fluorescent labeling of biomolecules and other fluorescence‑based biochemical assays, enabling the conjugation of soluble proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides, and DNA. For more sensitive proteins, the water‑soluble Sulfo‑Cyanine3 Hydrazide can be considered, requiring no additional cosolvents.

Upon binding to biomolecules, Cyanine 3 exhibits enhanced fluorescence. Hydrazide–carbonyl conjugates are commonly used to label the amine groups of biological macromolecules, while maleimides are frequently employed to modify thiol groups.

Li Ji Bio offers Cyanine 3 Hydrazide in the form of triethylammonium salts. Under identical optical properties and reactivity, it exhibits superior solubility compared to the potassium salt–based Cyanine 3 Hydrazide offered by other companies.

Cyanine 3 Hydrazide (hydrazide) exhibits broad-spectrum properties similar to those of the Cy3® NHS ester, Alexa Fluor 546, and DyLight 549, and can serve as a viable alternative.
