Product Description
DAPI is a blue fluorescent dye commonly used for nuclear staining, preferentially binding to double-stranded DNA, particularly to AT-rich regions in the minor groove. In addition, DAPI can also bind to RNA, though its binding mode differs. Compared with DAPI–DNA complexes, DAPI–RNA complexes exhibit a longer fluorescence emission wavelength (approximately 500 nm), whereas DAPI–DNA complexes emit at around 460 nm.
In multicolor fluorescence staining, DAPI is a commonly used nuclear stain whose blue fluorescence provides strong contrast with green, yellow, or red fluorophores. DAPI exhibits high nuclear specificity and virtually does not stain the cytoplasm. This staining solution is prepared at a concentration of 3 μM and is not sterile.
