Cellulose nitrate (NC) membrane (0.22 μm) is a pre-cut, 300 × 30 cm microfiltration membrane with a pore size of 0.22 μm, used for transferring proteins from various gel matrices—typically in Western blotting.
A 0.22 µm pore size is well suited for small proteins with molecular weights below 20 kDa (approximately 20,000 Da), enabling superior adsorption and retention of these low‑molecular‑weight proteins. It offers excellent protein retention, high mechanical strength, and broad chemical compatibility, making it widely used in Western blotting assays.
