Product Description
Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic produced by Streptomyces, containing at least 85% neomycin B. It serves as a selection agent for screening prokaryotic cells transformed with neo‑selectable marker genes. Neomycin sulfate can be used to investigate the cytotoxic side effects of antibiotics, the response of certain fibroblasts to platelet‑derived growth factor, and the isolation of proteins that interact with inositol 4,5‑bisphosphate. This compound binds to both the 30S and 50S ribosomal subunits, inducing misreading and inhibiting the initiation and elongation phases of protein synthesis. Neomycin can also block voltage‑sensitive Ca²⁺ channels. 2+ the channel, without affecting Na in neurons +/Ca 2+ The efflux pump, neomycin is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
This product is a sterile solution, with a typical working concentration of 5–100 μg/mL, and has been sterilized by filtration.
