Product Description
Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces aureofaciens. It exerts inhibitory effects against Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, spirochetes, and other microorganisms, but it is ineffective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Proteus species. Its CAS number is 60-54-8, and its molecular weight is 444.44. The mechanism of action involves binding to the 30S subunit of the ribosome, thereby preventing the attachment of aminoacyl-tRNA to the ribosome and inhibiting protein synthesis. Clinically, tetracycline is used to treat infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
This product consists of tetracycline and deionized water; if necessary, it should be filtered through an organic membrane filter prior to use in cell culture.
