Product Description
MCDB It is a low‑protein, serum‑free culture medium specifically designed for certain cell types. MCDB 131 is one variant of the MCDB series, developed by Knedler and Ham, and was initially used to culture human microvascular endothelial cells (HMVEC). In addition to endothelial cells, MCDB 131 can also support other cell types, such as hepatocytes, smooth muscle cells, and cardiomyocytes.
MCDB 131 What distinguishes this culture medium from conventional media is its inclusion of trace elements, putrescine, adenine, thymine, and higher concentrations of amino acids and vitamins. It is often used in combination with EGF, hydrocortisone, glutamine, and low‑concentration serum; the appropriate serum concentration should be determined on a cell‑type–specific basis.
