Product Description
NCI-H596 (Chinese name: human lung adenosquamous carcinoma cells) was isolated in 1983 by Gazdar A.F. and Oie H. from a chest wall mass of a 73-year-old Caucasian male patient with adenosquamous carcinoma; the tumor sample was obtained prior to any treatment. NCI-H596 cells express p53 at levels comparable to those in normal lung tissue and exhibit no major structural DNA abnormalities. These cells are positive for cytokeratins and vimentin, but negative for neurofilament triple protein; they also express multiple markers of squamous cell differentiation, including glutaminyl transferase activity, keratinocyte envelope formation, and cross‑linked envelope assembly.
The cells exhibit a typical epithelial morphology and grow adherently. Species: Human; Cell type: Tumor. Cell; tissue origin: lung; tumor type: lung cancer cell.
