Product Description
NIH-OVCAR-3 (Chinese name: human ovarian adenocarcinoma cells) was established by T. C. Hamilton in 1982. These cells were derived from malignant ascites obtained from a patient with advanced ovarian adenocarcinoma. When 1 × 10⁷ cells were subcutaneously implanted into nude mice, all animals developed tumors within 21 days. NIH-OVCAR-3 cells constitute an appropriate model system for studying drug resistance in ovarian cancer, and their expression of hormone receptors may prove useful for evaluating hormone‑based therapies.
The cells exhibit a typical epithelial morphology and grow adherently. Species: Human; Cell type: Tumor cell; Tissue origin: Ovarian adenocarcinoma; Tumor type: Ovarian cancer cell.
