Product Description
PC‑9 (Chinese name: human lung cancer cells) is derived from human lung adenocarcinoma and retains a differentiated phenotype. PC‑9 was previously known as PC‑14. PC‑14 was originally established in 1989 as a cell line derived from undifferentiated human lung adenocarcinoma and was deposited at the RIKEN BioResource Center. Subsequent short tandem repeat (STR) DNA analysis revealed that this cell line is identical to PC‑9, which is a cell line derived from differentiated human lung adenocarcinoma. This misidentification occurred prior to the cell line’s deposition at the RIKEN BioResource Center. Accordingly, the cell line’s name was changed to PC‑9 to reflect this finding.
The cells exhibit a mixed morphology of round and spindle-shaped forms, grow adherently, with a small proportion in suspension. Species: Human; Tissue source: Lung; Cell type: Tumor cell; Tumor type: Lung cancer cell.
