    THP-1 (Chinese name: human monocytic leukemia cells) exhibits phagocytic activity toward lipid droplets and activated erythrocytes and lacks surface and cytoplasmic immunoglobulins. THP-1 cells can be induced to differentiate into macrophage-like cells using phorbol esters or TPA.

    The normal cell morphology is that of a monocyte, with suspension‑type growth. Species: Human; Cell origin: Acute monocytic leukemia, monocytes; Cell type: Tumor cells; Tumor type: Leukemic cells.
