Product Description
VCaP (Chinese name: human prostate cancer cells) is a cell line established in 1997 from a spinal metastasis of a prostate cancer patient who was not responsive to androgen deprivation. VCaP cells were first passaged by xenografting into mice and subsequently cultured in vitro; both in vivo and in vitro, VCaP cells remain androgen‑sensitive. Recent findings indicate that when VCaP cells are xenografted into mice, they may require the murine xenotropic retrovirus BxV‑1.
The cells exhibit a typical epithelial morphology and grow adherently. Species: Human; Cell type: Tumor cell; Tumor type: Prostate cancer cell.
