Product Description
Agarose is a linear polysaccharide whose basic structure consists of long chains in which β‑D‑galactose linked at the 1,3‑position alternates with 3,6‑anhydro‑L‑galactose linked at the 1,4‑position. Agarose typically dissolves in water when heated above 90°C and forms a stable semi‑solid gel upon cooling to 35–40°C, making it widely used for routine nucleic acid analyses by gel electrophoresis or blotting techniques such as Northern or Southern blotting.
Li Ji Bio has developed a novel agarose gel that can resolve DNA fragments ranging from 500 bp to 23,000 bp and is free of DNase, RNase, and protease. TAE or TBE buffer is typically used as the electrophoresis running buffer. During agarose gel electrophoresis, the appropriate agarose concentration and electrophoresis buffer should be selected based on the molecular weight of the nucleic acids to be separated, thereby enhancing resolution. For high‑molecular‑weight nucleic acids, a lower‑concentration gel is recommended; for low‑molecular‑weight nucleic acids, a higher‑concentration gel is preferred. When high resolution is not critical, either TAE or TBE buffer may be used; however, for high‑resolution separation, TAE is advised for large‑fragment DNA, while TBE is recommended for small‑fragment DNA. Refer to the table below for guidelines on agarose gel concentration, the linear DNA separation range, and the appropriate electrophoresis buffer.
